STEM Assessment Analysis Course

**For this course, I’d like to use Secondary Science as a point of reference.***

***Location: Florida, USA***

Part 1: Observation

Observe and collaborate with a secondary education teacher in a STEM content area. Use the “Assessment Analysis” template to make note of how the teacher implements pre-assessment, formative, and summative assessments.

Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the mentor teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.

Part 2: Discussion Summary

After your observation, discuss with your mentor teacher and create a 150-200 word summary of the following:

· The pre-assessment and formative assessment processes implemented in the classroom. Why the specific approach was used in the class.

· How assessment results were used to inform instruction.

· How feedback from the formative assessment was provided to students.

· Types of summative assessments implemented in the classroom. Why they are beneficial for teaching in your content area.

· How feedback from the summative assessment is provided to students.

· Opportunities offered for remediation and enrichment

· How assessments were differentiated, including accommodations made when needed, to ensure that all students can participate in the assessments.

Part 3: Reflection

Write a 150-200 word reflection on how this information will be applied in your future professional practices related to creating and administering assessments that account for the needs of diverse students.

Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the mentor teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
