Hospital acquired infections- 1.7 million patients a year/ 99,000 deaths a year
Prevention of CLABSI’s:
Hand Hygiene- #1
Maximize sterility- don cap, masks and sterile gloves
Use curos caps when site not used
Daily central line assessments
Change dressing every 5-7 days
